Cork Museum

Located in the centre of Palafrugell, the Cork Museum is a unique institution due to its subject matter, its territorial sphere and its desire to provide a service. The museum acquires, conserves, interprets and highlights the world of cork’s important heritage to the environment in Catalonia in configuring a landscape, an industry, ways of life, and a common identity. It also aims to contribute to the social, economic and cultural development of the community; to offer support to formal education and as a means for informal education; as well as an alternative option for creation and leisure.

The Cork Museum is located in an old cork factory, the most important of Spain’s industrial sector. In addition to an important past in the sector, it also has some unusual elements in the cork manufacturing plants which are often functional buildings without concessions to decorative elements and which do not involve the participation of renowned architects. This aspect makes the whole even more relevant in which its modernist elements, dimensions and structure stand out.

The Cork Museum also manages the Interpretation Centre of the Can Mario Modernist Water Tower and the Sant Sebastià de la Guarda Historical Site in Llafranc.

The museum has lockers to leave your belongings. Photos can be taken without flash. There are no restrictions, as long as a tripod is not used.
